PopUpCop's Animated images options page allow you to create lists of web sites for which animated images are selectively enabled or disabled (blocked). For example, you may generally block animated images except those at your favorite web sites, or block animated images only at selected sites. Please note that you must enable animated image blocking to block any animated images.
![]() A single page or an entire web domain (source) can be blocked or allowed. For example, to allow Animated images at www.popupcop.com, enter this page name into the Allow List. To allow Animated images at all the web servers (e.g. www.popcop.com, secure.popupcop.com, etc.) in the popupcop.com web domain, enter *.popupcop.com into the Allow List.
The arrow-buttons, The Blocking type radio buttons allow you to specify a general rule that PopUpCop will use to determine whether to block a particular Layer. You can always override this rule by adding sites to the block or allow lists.
The Animated blocked color button allows you to specify the color of the colored rectangle that PopUpCop displays in front of blocked Animated images. When you click on this button, PopUpCop displays a standard Windows color chooser dialog. The Unknown blocked color button allows you to specify the color of the colored rectangle that PopUpCop displays in front of blocked images whose animated status cannot be determined, either because the image does not exist, or because the image was not saved in Internet Explorer's disk cache. When you click on this button, PopUpCop displays a standard Windows color chooser dialog. The Allow Animated images from all these sites check boxes allow you to specify a general rule that PopUpCop will use to determine whether to block a particular Flash movie. You can always override this rule by adding sites to the block or allow lists.
PopUpCop helps you form the proper URL to enter in the Enter new page, server or domain dialog. When you click on New (or select an entry in either list and click Edit) then you see this dialog:
![]() This allows you to type in the URL (web address) of sites that you want to add to either list. The two buttons on the right, Make server and Make domain are URL helper tools. They allow you to take a complicated URL and quickly turn it into either a server address or a domain address.
For example, if you copy a URL from your browser, such as, The Delete button removes the selected items from the list. To remove more than one at a time Ctrl-left-click on the items and then click the Delete button. A confirmation dialog appears for you to accept or cancel the delete action. PopUpCop's Animated image information dialog shows what animated (and unknown status) images PopUpCop found on the page that you are currently viewing. It also indicates whether the image is from a third-party site. From this dialog you can determine which what images PopUpCop has blocked. You can also use this dialog to create entries in the Images allow or block list.
